The ingredient we forgot.

Concrete takes time to cure and set.  The real hardening, only when decades have transpired.  Much form work required even before application to ensure desired result is just so.  But even then, it must be held steadfast, after the initial pour.  The pre-work much longer and harder than the actual pour.

To build a ship, a locomotive, an aircraft, a bridge, a sky scrapper. To forge steel, to harden the clay pot, to make glass.  To construct a dam, engineer a road, bore a tunnel, make a spanner.

For a glacier to scour the landscape, for a river to bend the land to it’s will.  For the oceans to forge the coastlines, for the rain to wash the mountains into sand.

For anything of reliable quality, long lasting result to be experienced, the ingredient we forget of course, is time.

Time to think, time to reflect, time to test and retest when required, time to attempt desired result from all manner of approach.  Time to feel if something is correct or not. Time in Nature to see the exquisite results, Nature’s time frames has us in awe, to behold.

Pause, now for a moment or two, or more.  To reflect.

For how long does it take for the tree to grow?  The crops ready for harvest.  The chick to peck it’s way out from confines of the egg.   The storm clouds to form.  The tides to come and go. For the butterfly wings to harden.

For there is nothing around us or that we do with long lasting outcome in mind, that doesn’t take time.  If quality outcome, long lasting outcomes, the desired result.

Even in the process it took for you to grow into an adult form, from the child.  Time required even in your own Life, to pass.

Because let us now consider our “instant” world of today.  For maybe in the consideration of such things a new direction for us all, can be set.

Instantly today, at just the end of my finger, answers to every question I could ever ask.  Offered to us, without the need to think and time required to digest.

Social media platforms.  Read one headline, instantly ten more offered to consume your time.  No quality of thought or processing required.  Just stealing your quality time, that’s all.  No time to change or try anything anymore.  Just instant more to drown in trying to keep “up to date”.

Instantly being influenced by this or that.  No thought required, to stay connected to the Influencer’s endless wheel.

Instantly able to tell another what your rights are and how that demands your respect.

Junk products, with deliberate failure, deliberately in the design in.  Stamping out continuously, instant billions of tonnes of waste as they consume.  Nothing of quality around us, now the result.  Machines to instantly build anything, running 24 hours a day.

Fast food instantly delivered to your door.  Complaints lodged if your instant time frame expectations not met.  No thought of nutritional value considered.  The price often paid now in our instant food delivered world.

Purchase this, so we can instantly advertise you the next latest coming model.

Instantly, we must be available to whomever might be calling.  Expectations of folks controlling who they talk with and when, seen now as inconvenient towards those calling.  Like it is not correct to not be instantly available, in our modern world.

If desired, packaged food, waiting for your instant purchase to own.  Right there on the shelf, no labour or thought required.

“The news” now instant across the world.  For you are not a “global citizen” if you don’t spend all your time, trying to keep up.  No thought required to think about why someone might decide that you need to know “this” and not “that”.  Just keep instantly consuming all that we spew towards you, the game.

I want what I want and I want it now.  No time to consider that even, why?  What is the real cost?

Even the time and focus to continue reading, just this article, now hard to find.  So instant our world has become, even our ability to focus, to hold thought or picture for any length of time.  For many is no longer the case.

In the “instant world” that entangles and consumes us.  A real struggle it is, to find anything that is now deriving anything of quality, to last.

Yet now being aware of these and so many other example.  Pause again for moment or two, for many the example now before you, in your Life, speaking loudly for you.

We need to the time to not only think about something.  But to take it inside to see if something feels right or not.

To begin to get to know yourself takes time, effort and investment of will.

To build quality friendships / relationships that will stand the heat of conflict, takes time, desire and focus.

To build anything that will last and is good for us, time, is the critical ingredient.

Quality in anything, in whatever form, requires time to surface.

Reading books, where imagination and interpretation happens, takes time.  Books without the need for batteries.

Musical instruments, the arts, take time to practice and master.

A world without the investment of time, is a dead end road.  Or worse.

Pause again now, if you dare.  To consider if, remaining in your Life, any aspect where you allow quality time to preform the magic it does.

Or is the toxic world of “instant” all pervasively entangling you and perhaps the community that surrounds?

To slow down, to create space, to turn off all the noise, to focus in these times, the will, isn’t about instant anything.

Rather it is about the real direction we are supposed to travel, together in this place.

For at this time like no other, with quality time under attack personally and as communities, what it is to really be “the Kindness of Man” (Humankind) is under assault.

It is time, the real time of your Life, that is under assault.

Consciously take it back to self where necessary.

Now picture has been painted thus.

For without all of us being timefull in our lives.

More and more peril, everyday we risk.

Time, the ingredient we must remember today to bake back into our Lives.

Guard carefully the time of your Life.
